First we open the sample database – Supertienda.xls. We drag the Shopping sheet. We click on the Country to Geographic Function Country field. We make the changes of the type of Data of the field to leave it as a geographical function and thus be able to visualize the map.

We click in the field Department to Geographical Function State / Province. Then we click on the Geographical Function Region field from the Department Field, there we change the data type of the region field from the state field so that the regions grouped by department can be visualized on the map.
We drag the Total to Color field, in order to visualize which region buys more.

To replicate this exercise, we will use the Sample-Superstore data source, which is available in the body of this blog, then click on the Region field.
Select the option Create, then Set, name the set with the name Set Region and assign a name to the set related to the action to be performed.
We click on the menu of the Data tab to display the menu, in this way we create a calculated field. Said field we take to Detail of Region in the card of marks to the detail picture.

We click on the Worksheet / Actions Menu, Select the option Add Action / Change Set Values. We name the new action with the name Detail by Region selected, in the Run Action panel as click on the Select option.
In the Destination Set panel, select the set created in the step 8 Region selected in the second list, then go to the Delete Selection panel, this allows us to click on the option Delete all the values of the set. We click on accept twice.
Then we click on Description emerging from the brand card, we edit the text, we sweep the texts of country and region. We cut the Region field and paste it in the first line before Region Detail.
Let’s go to the maps menu select Maps Layers, in Discoloration leave it at 100%. In this way, the map of Colombia is visualized only on the map.
